Hospital Policies

Appointments

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. In order to make an appointment, please call us during our business hours at 847-891-3986.

Arrival

For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.

For your convenience, “drop-off” appointments are available. A “drop off” means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours. Usually we will ask you to “drop off” sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Once the doctor is done, she will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and to give you discharge instructions.

For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

Payment

In order to maintain our high standard of service, we require that payment is made at the time services are rendered. We provide estimates for all surgeries and hospitalizations. If you have not received an estimate, you are welcome to request one at any time for your expected charges.

We accept Visa, Discover, American Express, cash or check, however, we do not accept checks from new clients.

If you need pet insurance, please explore your options using the Pet Insurance Finder Tool.

New Clients

Please arrive 15 – 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Bring copies of any records, including vaccination history for your pet. If you like, you may have your previous vet fax us your pet’s records (with date and time of appointment) to 847-891-2124.

Surgical Admissions

Pets are not to have food or treats after 9 PM and no water after midnight the night before surgery. If your pet is on medication, please check with the doctor as to whether or not your pet should have medication the day of surgery.

Drop-off time for surgery is between 8:30 – 9:00 AM the day of surgery.

You may call after 12:30 PM the day of surgery to check on your pet.

A pick-up time for your pet depends on the type of surgery. Please ask the doctor or a technican when your pet should be able to go home (all patients will be released by 5:00 PM).
